Speaker: Stuart Brown, the Acting Deputy Consul General to Hong Kong and Macao

Stuart Brown has been Acting Deputy Consul General to Hong Kong and Macao since July 2022. He arrived in Hong Kong in May 2022 as Consul responsible for political affairs and communications.

 

Stuart joined the diplomatic service in 2007. Prior to arriving in Hong Kong he spent three years as Head of the British Office in Hargeisa. Stuart worked in the FCO’s Cyber Policy Department from 2016 to 2019 as Head of Cyber Diplomacy, with responsibility for strengthening the UK’s bilateral relations on cyber security and internet policy issues. He has held previous overseas roles in Khartoum (2014-16) and Beijing (2010-2013).

 

Stuart grew up in Hong Kong, between 1991-2000, where he attended both primary and secondary school. He spent a gap year studying Mandarin at the Beijing Culture and Language University before studying Geography at the University of Cambridge.
